Rebirth and Rebuild
I started this because between board exams, emails, and follow-ups, I realized I was forgetting why I got into medicine in the first place. I had gotten distracted.
And by the time I had gained the awareness to look around, I realized I wasn’t the only one.
I, like many others, realized I needed a space to think clearly again. No, not like the library (although that did help), but rather a place to reconnect with what pulled me into medicine in the first place. A place that gives a sense of wonder, a feeling that this work matters. A moment that reminds you of how bright-eyed you were as a pre-med.
And this doesn’t just apply to people in the medical field— this applies to everyone.
This is a rebuild.
What is Renaissance Medicine?
It is a rebirth; a return to the idea that medicine is more than just a system— it’s a practice. And this practice is built on observation, creativity, and connection. It’s about remembering that progress is not only speed or scale, but also about depth and craft.
See, the original Renaissance gave us anatomy, perspective, curiosity, and (perhaps the most important aspect) the courage to go beyond. That spirit still has a place here.
So… that’s what this space is for.
A place to remember that being a physician is still something worth leaning into, even when the world tells us it’s not worth it. Even when the future isn’t clear. Renaissance Medicine is my way of exploring that… through essays, stories, questions, and everything else.
If you’ve ever felt like you needed space to breathe inside all of this... still curious, still learning, still looking for the parts of this work that feel alive…
Thank you for reading and for being here.
Now let’s get to it. There’s a lot to rebuild and a whole self to be reborn.
